Goldfields Museum
This project in the goldfields allowed me to discover the rich history of the goldrush and it’s association with Victoria’s history as a whole.
I learnt about the urban grid and how in many goldfields towns this grid was distorted and disrupted as a result of rapid increases in population.
I also noted the prevalent use of key materials such as masonry, a result of excess stone mined throughout the goldfields.
This research combined with precedent studies allowed me to create a design specifically suited to my site type, that could also be replicated in similar places of land degradation.
